Hungarian military acquires 13 additional Gidran armoured vehicles

The Hungarian armed forces are set to strengthen their capabilities with the addition of 13 new Gidran armored vehicles at their base in Tata, western Hungary. According to Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, these vehicles, manufactured in Turkey, will be utilized by new recruits who recently joined the forces as part of a government initiative launched in February.

Prior to their deployment in Tata, the Gidran armored vehicles were first stationed at a base in Kaposvar, southern Hungary, where they underwent necessary preparations such as equipping them with radios and other essential systems.

Currently, there are already 10 Gidran armored vehicles stationed in Tata, where they are assigned to a rifle company operating under NATO’s Forward Land Forces Battle Group, as confirmed by the defense minister.

The acquisition of these new vehicles not only enhances the firepower and mobility of the Hungarian armed forces but also underscores the country’s commitment to bolstering its defense capabilities in alignment with its NATO obligations. The continued modernization and expansion of the military’s equipment reflect Hungary’s proactive approach to ensure national security and contribute effectively to international defense efforts.
