Hungarian energy group MVM to acquire majority stake in E.ON’s business in Romania
Hungarian state-owned energy group MVM has announced its decision to acquire a majority stake in E.ON’s retail and customer solutions business in Romania. According to MVM, the acquisition will involve a 68% stake in E.ON Energie Romania, which serves nearly 3.4 million customers, as well as a 98% stake in regional service provider E.ON Asist Complet. The deal is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2025, subject to approval from the relevant authorities. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
MVM believes that this acquisition will enhance its presence in the region, while E.ON sees it as an opportunity to focus on key strategic areas and contribute to the energy transition in Europe. By divesting its business in Romania, E.ON can optimize its operations and resources to meet its long-term goals.
