Hungarian Teen’s Narrow Escape: Phone Use in Bathtub Leads to Tragic Accident
A 13-year-old Hungarian girl is currently in critical condition after a horrifying incident in which she was electrocuted while using her mobile phone in the bath. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of mixing electronics and water.
The incident occurred in Nyíregyháza on Thursday evening. The teen had her phone plugged into a charger connected to an extension lead while she was in the bath. Unfortunately, the phone slipped from her hand and fell into the water, causing her to immediately lose consciousness from the electric shock.
Emergency services were called to the scene and worked tirelessly to resuscitate the girl before stabilizing her condition at Nyíregyháza hospital. She sustained serious burns and was later airlifted to a specialist facility in Miskolc, where she continues to be under close medical supervision.
Experts are now urging the public to be extra cautious when using electronic devices near water, reminding everyone never to use plugged-in appliances, such as phones, while bathing. This heartbreaking incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential consequences of not being mindful of the dangers of mixing electronics and water.
