Hungarian Victim of October Hamas Attack Revealed

Beeri kibbutz Announces the Death of Missing Hungarian Citizen

The Beeri kibbutz has made a heartbreaking announcement that Ilan Weisz, a father of three who has been missing since 7 October and holds Hungarian citizenship, was killed by terrorists who invaded the settlement on the same day. According to the Times of Israel, the 56-year-old man had been held as a possible hostage for nearly three months before his body was discovered by authorities.

Weisz’s family had not seen him since that fateful morning when he was alerted to an emergency at the kibbutz. His wife, Shiri (53), and youngest daughter, Noga (18), were also impacted by the tragic events. They were kidnapped by Hamas gunmen and were only released from Gaza after 50 days of captivity in a hostage situation.

It was later revealed that the family had been on holiday in Hungary in August. Additionally, on 7 October, Ilan’s brother, Amir Weis, also of Hungarian origin (but not a citizen), was killed by terrorists along with his wife while hiding in the safe room of their home.

The recent conflict has taken a heavy toll on both sides. The final death toll from the attack is now thought to be 695 Israeli civilians, including 36 children, as well as 373 security forces and 71 foreigners, giving a total of 1,139, as reported by France24. The World Health Organization stated that tens of thousands of Palestinians are fleeing central Gaza and Khan Younis, attempting to escape Israeli attacks. In Gaza, at least 21,320 people have been killed and 55,603 injured in Israeli attacks since October 7, according to AlJazeera.

The ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict has resulted in devastating losses and continues to impact the lives of countless individuals. As the region grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, it remains crucial for efforts to be made toward achieving peaceful resolutions and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all those affected.
