Hungarians Ranked Second in Coffee Consumption in Central Europe, After Czechs

Czech, Hungarian, and Croatian travellers are leading the pack when it comes to coffee consumption, as revealed by data from MOL gas stations. A total of 40 million cups of coffee were served up during the first eight months of this year, with Hungarians emerging as among the top coffee consumers in the region.
In celebration of International Coffee Day, MOL shared some fascinating statistics on coffee consumption. Across its gas stations, an average of 120 cups of coffee were brewed every minute, totaling 40 million cups from January to August. Travellers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Croatia were identified as the top coffee enthusiasts.
Marco Rossi, the head coach of the Hungarian national football team and coffee ambassador for Fresh Corner, pointed out the shared passion for coffee between Italians and Hungarians. He noted that while both nations are fervent about coffee, the types of coffee preferred in Hungary differ from those popular in Italy. Rossi himself indulges in 6-7 cups of coffee daily.
When it comes to coffee preferences, there are clear distinctions between countries. In Hungary, espresso reigns supreme, followed by cappuccino and latte. Slovakia mirrors this trend with espresso and long black as top choices. In Serbia, espresso and cappuccino are favored, with espresso with milk ranking second. The Czechs opt for latte, americano, and cappuccino, while Croatians lean towards espresso macchiato, espresso, and cappuccino.
Fresh Corner, the coffee provider at MOL stations, recently introduced a new coffee blend to its offerings. In addition to the traditional medium-roast arabica-robusta blend, customers can now savor a smoother, single-origin 100% Brazilian arabica from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The origin and composition of the coffee influence its flavor profile, with the blend offering rich, bold espresso-based drinks and the Brazilian arabica providing a sweeter, creamier taste.
Coffee enthusiasts can explore these diverse flavors at Fresh Corner, where a wide range of coffee options cater to varying preferences. With the popularity of coffee continuing to soar, it’s clear that Czech, Hungarian, and Croatian travellers are leading the charge in the world of coffee consumption.
