Hungarians’ Top Travel Destinations from Budapest Airport
The number of Chinese air connections is rapidly growing, but Hungarians have shown a preference for US and Japanese cities over Chinese destinations in a recent online voting.
Budflyer, a Hungarian Facebook page focusing on air travel news, conducted the online voting to determine the top 5 destinations Hungarians would like to travel to from Budapest. The results are as follows:
1. New York
2. Tokyo
3. Bangkok
4. Miami
5. Chicago
The desire for a direct Budapest-New York flight is apparent among the Hungarian travelers. While there have been announcements about a direct flight to Bangkok, no concrete plans have materialized beyond promises from Air Asia X.
Despite the active expansion of Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air and their acquisition of long-range Airbus A321XLR aircraft, there is currently no news about direct flights between Budapest and the USA. It seems that Wizz Air is focusing on expanding its routes to the East rather than the West, despite the sizable Hungarian diaspora living in the USA.
