Hungary and Kuwait Strengthen Cooperation in Various Fields
Hungary and Kuwait have recently agreed to enhance their cooperation in several key areas, as announced by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Kuwait City. The discussions between the two nations focused on mutual sympathy and a shared history of fighting for freedom and independence.
Key agreements were signed during the talks, including a cooperation agreement on exchange programmes between diplomatic academies and cultural cooperation. This collaboration will also extend to bringing Hungarian music and literature to Kuwait. Additionally, an agreement on cyber protection was reached, indicating a joint effort to address modern challenges in the realm of cyber warfare.
Hungary’s expertise in cyber protection has earned international recognition, and the partnership with Kuwait is expected to strengthen security measures in cyberspace. A Hungarian company specializing in cyber protection has established a subsidiary in Kuwait, with plans to engage with local authorities and private clients in the coming year.
Furthermore, discussions are progressing between Hungarian oil and gas company MOL and its Kuwaiti counterpart, aiming to utilize Hungarian technologies for more efficient and environmentally friendly crude oil production in Kuwait. An investment protection agreement is also in the works to support collaboration between Hungarian and Kuwaiti businesses.
Hungary will provide assistance to Kuwait in developing and implementing stringent food safety regulations, leveraging Hungary’s reputation for having one of the strictest and most effective food safety systems in Europe. Additionally, Hungary commended Kuwait for its efforts to stabilize the Middle East and combat terrorism, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in this regard.
Looking ahead, Hungary is advocating for the European Union to strengthen ties with the Gulf region to enhance competitiveness and economic growth. The call for reinitiating negotiations on a free trade agreement between the EU and the Persian Gulf reflects Hungary’s commitment to fostering economic cooperation and mutual benefit between the two regions.
