Hungary Appoints New State Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office

Former Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi Appointed Parliamentary State Secretary of Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office

Former Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi has been announced as the new parliamentary state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, taking over from Csaba Dömötör, as reported by the Government Information Centre (KTK) on Sunday.

Csaba Dömötör will transition to the role of MEP for Fidesz-Christian Democrats starting in October, according to KTK.

Balázs Hidvéghi is set to take his oath of office on Monday in Parliament, where he will be filling the vacancy left by Fidesz MP Balázs Győrffy, as reported by hvg.hu.

The seat became available in July when Győrffy assumed a position as a Member of the European Parliament. However, due to a woman-beating scandal, Győrffy was quickly removed from his post and replaced by Csaba Dömötör, the former cabinet secretary. Hidvéghi is expected to assume the role as the newest MP on Tuesday.

This transition comes amidst changes within the Fidesz political party and its representatives, with Hidvéghi stepping into a key position in the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office.
