
Hungary Ranks 4th in Alerting on Dangerous Non-Food Products

Hungary Sends Fourth-Highest Number of Alerts to EU’s Safety Gate System
According to the National Authority for Trade and Consumer Protection (NKFH), Hungary sent a total of 365 alerts to Safety Gate, the European Union’s rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products, last year. This placed Hungary as the fourth-highest country for alert submissions, following Italy, Germany, and Sweden.
In total, 4,137 alerts were sent to Safety Gate last year. The NKFH reported that cosmetics accounted for 47% of the alerts sent by Hungary, with a specific mention of a ban on the synthetic fragrance BMHCA. String lights made up 19% of the alerts, electrical devices accounted for 14%, and toys made up 11% of the alerts.
This information highlights the importance of vigilance in monitoring and reporting dangerous products to ensure consumer safety. Safety Gate serves as a crucial tool in quickly identifying and addressing potential risks posed by non-food products.
