Hungary’s Digital Citizenship Initiative Allows Citizens to Present IDs via Mobile App
Hungary’s government has recently introduced a Digital Citizenship scheme that allows citizens to conveniently present their personal identification using a mobile phone. The announcement was made by government spokesperson Eszter Vitalios during a press briefing at a cabinet away-day in southern Hungary.
The new app contains an individual’s personal and vehicle registration information in one accessible location. Additionally, it offers the convenience of booking appointments at government administration offices. Since its launch, the app has already been downloaded 176,000 times and is expected to reach a total of 400,000 downloads by the end of this year.
This initiative is a significant step towards modernizing government services and making them more accessible to the citizens of Hungary. With the increasing reliance on digital technology, providing such tools can streamline administrative processes and enhance overall efficiency.
