Hungary’s Spring Return Date Announced: Prepare for Frosts Until Then

Winter weather has made a comeback in Hungary, with snow covering some parts of the country on the National Day of Hungary, 15 March. The solid precipitation reached 6cm in the Westernmost peaks, bringing a chill across the nation. Meteorologists are forecasting that this cold weather will persist in the following days, with morning and evening frosts expected.
According to reports, a dry, cold air mass will move in from the North on Monday, reducing the amount of precipitation but maintaining cold temperatures. Despite plenty of sunshine from Tuesday onwards, mornings and evenings will remain cold. On 18 March, frosty conditions are expected throughout Hungary, with temperatures not rising above 5-9 degrees and strong winds making it feel even colder.
The good news is that spring may make a return next week. Wednesday and Thursday will see beautiful sunshine, though night frosts will persist. Temperatures are expected to reach -7 to -8 degrees in wind-protected, frosty landscapes in Northern Hungary. However, Thursday afternoon will be warmer, with temperatures ranging from 10-15 degrees. The arrival of warm spring weather towards the end of next week should signal the end of morning frosts.
Despite the lingering cold, there is hope for warmer days ahead in Hungary. Stay tuned for further updates on the changing weather conditions in the country.
