Hungary’s Tallest Peak Painted in National Colors: A Stunning Photo Compilation

Every year, the summit stone of Kékes, Hungary’s highest point, gets a fresh coat of paint thanks to the efforts of a local association. The stone, which serves as a landmark for visitors to the stunning Kékes Mountain, undergoes frequent wear and tear due to the constant flow of tourists interacting with it.

According to a report by Sokszínűvidék, the “Városom, szeretlek” Association of Gyöngyös takes on the responsibility of repainting the stone in the national colors annually. This year, Péter Szókovács, the association’s president and prospective mayor of Gyöngyös, announced the completion of the repainting on social media.

In a post shared on his Facebook page, Szókovács expressed pride in the association’s dedication to maintaining the summit stone in top condition for visitors. He wrote, “True to our tradition, this year again we have made sure that the summit stone awaits visitors in a worthy condition and with a colourful display.”

The summit stone of Kékes is a popular spot for tourists to take photographs and often serves as a resting place for visitors. With the support of the local association, the stone continues to stand as a symbol of Hungary’s highest point, welcoming visitors to enjoy the breathtaking views of Kékes Mountain.
