Hür-İş Issues Statement in Front of Prime Ministry-BRTK

The Federation of Hür-İşçi Trade Unions (Hür-İş) has recently made a statement in front of the Prime Ministry regarding the fund to support the minimum wage and domestic employment. Hür-İş President Ahmet Serdaroğlu called for the Court of Accounts to supervise the fund, emphasizing the importance of ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Serdaroğlu expressed concerns about the government’s attempts to discredit the activities of the unions and stated that they would not allow it. He highlighted the need for the fund’s distribution to comply with laws and regulations, pointing out instances where funds were allocated contrary to regulations, resulting in damages.
In addition, Serdaroğlu questioned the government’s announcement of premium support for employees and women of the TRNC citizen, questioning where the necessary financial resources for wage and premium support would come from. He reiterated their commitment to fighting for the minimum wage and indicated that they will continue to follow the court process.
Furthermore, Serdaroğlu mentioned the transition of Liman-Sen to Hür-İş and raised concerns about the strike process in the ports. He also called for an inspection of union accounts to verify the allegations of empty safes and financial irregularities.
Addressing the Ministry of Labor and Social Security’s request for the supervision of Kamu-İş, Serdaroğlu questioned the purpose of the audit and affirmed that all decisions within the Federation are made by the Board of Directors. He emphasized that they will not be intimidated by attempts to discredit their efforts.
Serdaroğlu concluded by stating their commitment to continuing the struggle and sent a message to those allegedly not working despite receiving a salary. He emphasized the need for accountability and transparency within the unions, urging for inspections and accountability measures to be implemented where necessary.
