
Ibrahim Koreli Remembered: BRTK Pays Tribute

The late İbrahim Koreli, a former Member of Parliament from the Socialist Liberation Party (TKP) and a prominent trade unionist, was honored with a commemoration ceremony on the fourth anniversary of his passing. The ceremony took place at his grave in Nicosia Cemetery and was attended by his family, relatives, political colleagues, and members of the community.
Among the attendees were Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre, TDP Chairman Zeki Çeler, TDP General Secretary Nevzat Özkunt, LTB Chairman Mehmet Harmancı, and other political figures. Speaking at the event, Zühal Koreli expressed gratitude for the support shown on this somber occasion, highlighting her father’s dedication to serving society and advocating for workers’ rights.
During the ceremony, Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre reflected on İbrahim Koreli’s impactful legacy and his commitment to social justice. LTB President Mehmet Harmancı spoke about Koreli’s vision for unity within the social democratic community and emphasized the importance of coming together to honor his memory.
TDP Chairman Zeki Çeler underscored İbrahim Koreli’s contributions to the union movement, particularly in establishing the country’s first Agricultural Workers Union. He called on TDP and TKP members to carry on Koreli’s fight for peace, democracy, and justice in Cyprus, pledging to champion labor rights and uphold his principles.
The commemoration ceremony served as a reminder of İbrahim Koreli’s enduring influence and dedication to his beliefs. Through their words and actions, attendees paid tribute to his legacy and reaffirmed their commitment to realizing his vision for a more just and equitable society.
