ID-Free Digital Citizenship Program
Hungary is taking a step into the digital age with the launch of the Digital Citizenship program. This new initiative will allow citizens to manage administrative tasks through their mobile phones, making the process more convenient and efficient.
Parliamentary State Secretary Csaba Dötömötör announced in a video posted on the Hungarian government’s social media page that pre-registration for the program has already begun. Starting in September, individuals will be able to use their mobile phones to identify themselves to the police, eliminating the need to carry physical ID cards.
The mobile application developed as part of the program will centralize personal data, allowing users to download and transmit information securely. This will streamline administrative tasks and make processes easier for individuals. Additionally, the app will enable digital signatures that will hold the same legal weight as traditional signatures in all EU countries.
Furthermore, the application will provide the option to request a certificate of good conduct with just a few clicks, marking the introduction of digital documents in Hungary. Users will also be able to book appointments for government services directly from their mobile phones, saving time and eliminating the need to wait in long queues.
Csaba Dömötör encourages all citizens to register for the program if they wish to access these digital services. The Digital Citizenship program marks a significant step towards modernizing administrative processes in Hungary and making services more accessible to the public.
