
Identity of Shore Washed Body in Antalya Revealed

AÜ STUDENT MERVE ŞEVVAL ELMAS FOUND DEAD AFTER MISSING FOR DAYS
The disturbing case of Merve Şevval Elmas, a first-year student at AÜ Department of Gastronomy, has come to a tragic end. Her father, Osman Elmas, raised the alarm when he couldn’t reach his daughter since January 4th. Merve had been staying in the KYK dormitory within AÜ before she disappeared.
After filing a missing person complaint, Osman Elmas came to Antalya to seek help in finding his daughter. The Antalya Provincial Police Department initiated an operation to locate Merve. It was discovered that she had obtained permission to leave the dormitory, took a public bus, and arrived at the Düden Waterfall meeting point alone. In response, the Coast Guard teams launched an operation at sea to search for Merve Şevval Elmas.
Tragically, a woman’s body was discovered on the beach in Serik district on Saturday. Authorities suspected it could be Merve and proceeded to take a DNA sample from her family for verification. The DNA match confirmed that the body belonged to Merve Şevval Elmas. Emotionally devastated by the news, her father expressed that they will make the necessary arrangements to bring her body to Istanbul for burial.
The loss of Merve has left her family and loved ones in deep sorrow. The case highlights the importance of safety awareness and vigilance, especially for young people like Merve, who tragically lost her life. Our thoughts are with her family during this incredibly difficult time.
