Weather Forecast: Local Showers and Thunderstorms Expected in Several Regions of Turkey
According to the latest evaluations by the General Directorate of Meteorology, it is predicted that the whole country will experience partly cloudy weather, with some areas experiencing occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms. Temperature-wise, a decrease of 2 to 4 degrees is expected in the inner and northeastern parts of the country, while other regions will remain stable. Overall, temperatures are expected to be above seasonal norms across the country.
In terms of wind, a generally northerly wind is forecasted, with light winds from the south and west in the southern regions. Along the Marmara and Aegean coast, occasional moderate to strong winds (40-60 km/h) are expected.
Warnings have been issued for heavy rain in several regions, including the Central and Eastern Mediterranean, the west of Central Anatolia, and the Inner Aegean. Precautions should be taken against possible negative events such as floods, strong winds, and transportation disruptions. Additionally, a warning for strong winds has been issued for the south and west of Marmara and along the Aegean coast.
A yellow alert has been issued for 8 cities today and 21 cities tomorrow, including Istanbul and Ankara. Local heavy rain is expected in Ankara, Çankırı, Kırıkkale, Karabük, and Bolu, with thunderstorms predicted in these regions until Friday evening.
In Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Sakarya, heavy thunderstorms are expected tonight and tomorrow morning, prompting caution against floods and other potential issues. Similar warnings have been issued for regions like Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Isparta, and Antalya.
