The Traffic and Transportation Services Commission, led by Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, recently made significant decisions to improve transportation services in the country. One of the key decisions made was the implementation of new generation smart taximeters in taxis and public transportation vehicles.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the Değirmenlik-Çatalköy (Girne mountain road) road and new vehicle license plates. It was decided to set an age limit for student transportation vehicles and to use new smart taximeters in taxis and public transport vehicles. Additionally, consultations will be held with the Ministry of National Education to discuss the age limit for buses used for student transport.

One of the major decisions taken was to widen the Değirmenlik-Çatalköy road to 8 meters in order to improve traffic flow and safety. Heavy goods vehicles will be prohibited from using the right lane, to prevent passing vehicles and ensure smoother traffic.

Furthermore, a meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 26, to update the Commission members on the progress of the Transportation Master Plan regarding public transportation. These decisions aim to enhance the overall transportation system and improve the quality of services provided to the public.
