Important Reminder: One Question Not Evaluated in LGS – New Registration Rights Granted

MEB announced: 1 question is not evaluated in LGS. New registration right has been granted…

In a written statement made by the Ministry of National Education (MEB), it was announced that the central exam held as part of the High School Transition System (LGS) was conducted smoothly across Turkey on June 2, 2024. The Ministry stated, “The procedures regarding the exam process were carried out in accordance with the previously determined calendar. The objections received by our Ministry regarding the exam questions between June 2-7, 2024 were carefully examined; the necessary responses were provided to the objections based on the reports of academicians, teachers, and measurement and evaluation experts. Subsequent to this, a lawsuit was filed by parents/guardians for the cancellation of certain exam questions. Despite these challenges, placement procedures were completed on July 22, 2024, and the academic year commenced on September 9, 2024.”

‘Re-evaluation has been carried out’

The Ministry stated that final decisions from the courts regarding the exam questions were received on September 11, 2024. The statement highlighted that, while an expert report confirmed the validity of a question regarding science curriculum, it was ultimately decided to cancel the question based on the need for above-level achievements to answer it correctly. Consequently, the question was excluded from evaluation, and a re-evaluation was conducted based on the remaining questions.

‘Applications will be made between September 14-20, 2024′

To ensure that all students’ rights were protected and to prevent any grievances, students who were entitled to be placed in their preferred schools following the recalculation of scores were granted the right to new registration. These students have the option to remain in their current schools if they choose to do so. The relevant students will be informed of the process via SMS and e-School, and those who wish to transfer to a new school can submit their applications between September 14-20, 2024. Registrations for these students will be automatically processed starting September 21, 2024. With the allocation of additional quotas, students who qualified for transfer were able to avoid any disruptions throughout the academic year. Students who were placed in their preferred schools through the re-evaluation process can check their results on https://e-okul.meb.gov.tr.
