Increase in Overnight Guest Stays in Hungary

Guest nights at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary saw a positive increase in July, according to the latest report from the Central Statistical Office (KSH). The total number of guest nights rose by 2.0 percent to 6,646,000 compared to the same period last year.

Interestingly, while the number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers experienced a slight decrease of 0.3 percent to 3,861,000, there was a significant increase in guest nights spent by foreign visitors. Foreign visitors contributed to a 5.4 percent growth, totaling 2,786,000 guest nights.

In addition to the rise in guest nights, revenue of commercial accommodations, which encompass hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, camp sites, resorts, and hostels, also saw a notable increase. Revenue for commercial accommodations surged by 12 percent, reaching 134 billion forints (approximately EUR 341 million).
