Increasing Collaboration between Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic
Intensifying cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic
On June 20, 2024, a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic was taken during political consultations held in Prague. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, led the Turkmen delegation, while the Czech delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jiri Kozak.
During the consultations, both parties engaged in discussions on various aspects of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on current international issues. They reviewed existing agreements between Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic, emphasizing the importance of enhancing trade and economic ties. The focus was on increasing and diversifying trade turnover, as well as continuing collaboration in sectors such as energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, and the food and textile industries.
In order to strengthen cultural ties, plans were proposed for organizing Culture Days, exhibitions, and other cultural events. The aim is to foster greater understanding and appreciation of each other’s rich cultural heritage.
Following the consultations, Deputy Minister Gurbanov met with Deputy President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Jan Bartosek, to further discuss bilateral cooperation. Both parties highlighted the crucial role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in advancing bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding trade and economic ties.
In this regard, the possibility of creating a working group on economic cooperation and organizing a joint Business Forum was suggested. Additionally, efforts to enhance cultural and humanitarian partnership were emphasized, with plans for joint exhibitions, festivals, and Days of Culture. Strengthening contacts between the creative and scientific intelligentsia from both countries was identified as a priority for deepening cultural ties.
The meetings between Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic underscored the mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation in various fields and laid the foundation for further collaboration between the two nations.
