India’s election winner unveiled
The results of the general elections in India have been announced, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerging as the winner. Led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the NDA secured 293 out of 543 seats in the People’s Assembly, the lower house of the federal parliament.
On the opposition front, the India Comprehensive National Development Alliance (INDIA), led by the National Congress Party (INC), managed to win 234 seats. INC, the leader of the opposition bloc, saw a decrease in the number of seats compared to the 2019 elections.
While Modi’s party, BJP, won the election, they experienced a reduction in the number of seats compared to previous elections. This outcome has led to discussions about Modi’s political dependence on other parties in his third term as Prime Minister.
In a statement following the election results, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to the people for their trust and stated that the NDA’s victory was a “historic achievement.” He reassured the public that the government would continue to work towards fulfilling their aspirations.
The election results have set the stage for a new chapter in India’s political landscape, with the NDA securing a majority in the parliament and Modi gearing up for his third term as Prime Minister.
