Industry and Technology Minister Kacır announces delivery of TOGG – Latest Update
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır recently appeared on a live broadcast on CNN TÜRK to discuss the agenda. During the program, Minister Kacır expressed his belief in the Turkish people’s openness to innovation and their support for the plans shared by the government.
One of the key topics discussed was the growing presence of Togg, Turkey’s domestic electric vehicle brand, on the country’s roads. Currently, there are over a thousand Togg vehicles on the road, but the Minister stated that this number is expected to increase significantly. By 2023, it is projected that there will be more than 23,000 Togg vehicles in circulation.
Minister Kacır emphasized that Togg is not just a car but represents a new market for electric vehicles in Turkey. In order for electric vehicles to become widespread, there needs to be a sufficient infrastructure of charging stations. To address this, the government has already started work to establish charging stations in all 81 provinces of Turkey. Currently, there are over 1,780 charging stations, and this number is expected to further increase in the future.
The Minister emphasized the importance of Togg being a national brand and the need for Turkey to be fully independent in critical technologies, especially in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. He stated that electric vehicles will become more common, and there will be discussions about driverless cars in the future. Turkey aims to be a pioneer in electric vehicles, seeing them as a new window of opportunity for the country.
In addition to the automotive industry, Minister Kacır highlighted Turkey’s potential in other sectors as well. He mentioned that Turkey has opportunities in the production of electric ships and emphasized the importance of green technology. The global efforts to combat climate change present an opportunity for Turkey to cooperate and excel in this area. A successful transition to green technology could also contribute to the country’s economic growth.
Regarding automotive production, Minister Kacır revealed that Turkey is in talks with various international companies, both European and Far Asian brands, to further develop the sector. The recent success of Togg has attracted attention and positioned Turkey as a host country for global investments. In addition, Turkey plans to establish a battery factory that will produce cells for electric vehicles, further strengthening its position in the sector.
Minister Kacır ended the interview by highlighting Turkey’s skilled human resources and high productivity, as well as its cultural approach to ownership and belief in its capabilities. He stated that the paradigm in production has shifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Turkey has chosen to develop by producing.
