
Infantry Staff Colonel Akbaş Promoted to Brigadier General by High Evaluation Board

Security Forces Command Promotes Infantry Staff Colonel Mehmet Ali Akbaş to Brigadier General
The High Evaluation Board has decided to elevate Infantry Staff Colonel Mehmet Ali Akbaş, who served under the Security Forces Command, to the rank of brigadier general. This promotion will be effective from August 30, as stated by the Security Forces Command Press Office.
During the regular meeting of the Board for August, the status of personnel being promoted from colonels to brigadier generals within the Security Forces Command was discussed and finalized. It was unanimously agreed to promote Infantry Staff Colonel Mehmet Ali Akbaş to the rank of Brigadier General, effective from August 30, 2024.
Colonel Mehmet Ali Akbaş, born in Famagusta in 1976, graduated from the Military Academy in 1998 and the Infantry School in 1999 as a lieutenant. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Platoon and Company Commander, Plans Officer at the Security Forces Command Headquarters, Commander of the 4th Infantry Regiment, and Chairman of the Inspection and Evaluation Board.
Colonel Akbaş has also completed significant training programs such as National and International Security Strategies Management and Leadership Training, International Relations Program Master’s Degree, and Armed Forces Academy Higher Conduction and Administration Training.
Currently, Colonel Akbaş serves as the Security Forces Command Representative in the Police Services Commission and the Police Organization Planning Board. He is married with two children and is fluent in English.
