Minister Göktaş Addresses Decline in Birth Rates and Women’s Rights
Minister Göktaş recently spoke to journalists at the AK Party 31st Consultation and Evaluation Meeting in Kızılcahamam. During the meeting, he addressed the issue of declining birth rates in Turkey, citing data from TÜİK. He emphasized that this trend is not unique to Turkey and that many countries worldwide are facing similar challenges.
Göktaş highlighted the population anxiety prevalent in Europe and Asia, stating that it is a global concern. In response to these issues, he mentioned the government’s Family Action Plan, which prioritizes initiatives to address declining birth rates. As part of this plan, a pilot study will be conducted in three provinces with the lowest fertility rates.
Furthermore, Minister Göktaş emphasized the importance of supporting women and their rights. He noted the significant roles women play in international companies and decision-making processes, and stressed the need to create new models that empower women in both their personal and professional lives. Göktaş stated that the ministry is exploring flexible and remote working options to provide women with more choices and opportunities, aiming to eliminate the traditional dilemma of balancing home and work life.
