Initiation of Lovely Investigation into Boycott Calls
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has taken action to investigate individuals who have been promoting boycott calls on traditional and social media platforms in an attempt to harm public economic activity. According to a statement released by the office, those who have been spreading discriminatory rhetoric and inciting hatred towards certain groups of people are now under investigation for their actions.
The investigation, opened for the charges of “hate and discrimination” and “provoking the people to hatred and hostility”, aims to address the harmful impact of such statements on society. Additionally, calls for physical and verbal violence against specific workplaces have also been incorporated into the ongoing investigation.
