Insufficient Barley Supply from TÜK – BRTK

Barley Shortage Poses Challenges for Livestock Producers

Adil Sixtal, President of the Association of Animal Producers and Breeders, has voiced his concerns regarding a significant barley shortfall that is negatively impacting livestock producers. In a recent statement, he highlighted that the expected supply of barley, brought into the country by the Soil Products Institution, has fallen short of previously promised quantities.

Initially, there were expectations for the arrival of 4,800 tons of barley via ship at the port. However, only 2,900 tons were delivered, prompting Sixtal to express his dissatisfaction. He stated, “The words given to our livestock were not kept once again. The amount of barley is inadequate. This situation pushes the manufacturer to helplessness.”

Sixtal further warned that challenging times lie ahead for the livestock sector, indicating that the lack of adequate feed resources could threaten the stability and sustainability of animal husbandry in the region.

As the agricultural community grapples with this critical issue, the ramifications of the barley shortage are becoming increasingly apparent, leaving many producers in a precarious position. The Association continues to advocate for more reliable support and resources to ensure the viability of livestock farming.

The situation calls for urgent attention to address the needs of local producers, as they face mounting pressures from insufficient supplies and rising costs.
