Interdepartmental Commission Meeting to Ensure Turkmenistan’s International Human Rights Obligations
The Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan recently held a meeting to discuss the country’s international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law. The meeting, which took place on February 14, 2025, was attended by representatives from various ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.
During the meeting, the Commission reviewed the results of its activities in 2024 and outlined the tasks for the current year, which has been declared the International Year of Peace and Trust. Discussions focused on the protection of citizens’ interests in accordance with international law and the importance of cooperation with organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross of Turkmenistan.
Additionally, the Commission examined the implementation of national plans for human rights, gender equality, and children’s rights in Turkmenistan. It was highlighted that increasing legal knowledge among the population and improving access to legal information are key priorities for the Commission.
