Intermittent Showers in Istanbul: A Convenient Solution
Intermittent showers have been causing chaos in Istanbul, with heavy rainfall leading to water accumulations on the roads in various districts on both the Anatolian and European sides of the city.
Drivers on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge struggled to navigate through the heavy rain, while those in Ümraniye and Üsküdar had to proceed cautiously due to the puddles of water that formed on the roads after the sudden downpour. In Alibeyköy, small puddles of water caused vehicles to come to a standstill, while in Gaziosmanpaşa and Sancaktepe Atayolu Street, water accumulation made it difficult for vehicles to move.
In Maltepe Başıbüyük Fındıklı Neighborhood, heavy rain led to the formation of puddles on the road, causing inconvenience to drivers. Some citizens even sought shelter under shop awnings to protect themselves from the rain. The situation was no different on Güngören Soğanlı Street, where both vehicles and pedestrians faced difficulties due to the water accumulations.
Meanwhile, in Eyüpsultan, the heavy rain caused the collapse of a garden wall in Akşemsettin Neighborhood Gürcan Street. The water that accumulated in the area dug for construction led to the wall of a neighboring building collapsing and filling the garden. Firefighters were called to assist as water entered the basement flat of the building, causing damage to the furniture inside.
Homeowner Ünal Aburşu recounted the incident, stating that he suffered minor injuries when the wall collapsed as he tried to stop the water from leaking into the house. Despite efforts to drain the water, it rose up to half a meter, causing further damage to the property.
