Interpol Arrests ISIS Suspect on Espionage Charges
A Chechen national was arrested in Istanbul on charges of espionage following an operation carried out in Başakşehir on December 26. The suspect, identified as B.E., was detained by the authorities and taken to court where he was officially arrested for the crime of “political or military espionage” by the criminal judgeship of peace on duty.
The investigation into B.E. was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office following information provided by the Chechnya Police Department. According to reports, the suspect allegedly entered a house with his accomplices, stole 400 thousand rubles, and various items. Additionally, he was suspected of being affiliated with the terrorist organization DAESH and participating in espionage activities.
After a detention order was issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, B.E. was apprehended in an operation conducted in Başakşehir. The suspect’s case has now been transferred to the court for further legal proceedings.
The arrest of B.E. highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat crime and ensure national security in Istanbul. Investigations are still ongoing to uncover any potential connections to criminal organizations and espionage networks.
