Introducing Vocational Secondary Schools
Minister Yusuf Tekin recently participated in a live broadcast on the “Teacher” Youtube channel, where he answered questions from teachers. Tekin highlighted the importance of the “Teacher Room Meetings” held on the first Saturday of each month, which bring teachers together and contribute to the decision-making process at the Ministry of Education.
One of the key topics discussed during the broadcast was the establishment of the National Education Academy, which will provide education for teachers working in private schools as well as public institutions. Tekin emphasized that the academy will serve all organizations interested in planning education, including other occupational groups.
Additionally, Tekin addressed questions about the location of the National Education Academy, stating that while decisions have not been finalized for all provinces, efforts are being made to repurpose existing buildings in various cities. Plans are in place to transform buildings in cities such as Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Gaziantep, and Malatya into National Education Academies, providing accommodation for teacher candidates.
In response to inquiries about vocational secondary schools and the teaching of music and sports lessons in primary schools, Tekin outlined plans to implement pilot programs in these areas. He also emphasized the ministry’s commitment to incorporating artificial intelligence applications in education, to enhance the learning experience and make platforms like MEBE more dynamic.
Tekin highlighted the rich content available on platforms like EBA and stressed the importance of utilizing these resources to support students’ learning. He also mentioned the opening of support and training courses in schools and the revision of service points for teachers participating in these programs.
Finally, Tekin addressed concerns about summer courses and holiday arrangements for teachers, stating that efforts are being made to accommodate teachers’ preferences while ensuring continued professional development and support.
