Investigation into Agricultural Frost Incident by Assembly
The Assembly will investigate the results of the agricultural frost incident
Following a proposal from the Advisory Board adopted at the General Assembly, the political parties gathered to discuss and open a parliamentary investigation into the recent agricultural frost incident. During the preliminary meeting, Bülent Kaya, the new Path Party Group President, highlighted the impact of the frost on agriculture.
Kaya emphasized the need for a commission to be established promptly to address the damages caused by the agricultural frost. He proposed the creation of an Agricultural Disaster Fund to provide support and set up damage detection commissions.
Other political figures, such as Selcuk Ozdag and Hasan Karal, expressed concerns over the impact of wrong policies on the agricultural sector. They called for urgent action to support farmers and mitigate the effects of the frost on agricultural production.
Members from various parties, including MHP and CHP, also voiced their opinions on the need for immediate assistance to affected farmers. They proposed measures such as restructuring TARSIM and providing interest-free loans to help farmers recover from the losses incurred by the frost.
After extensive discussions, the establishment of a Parliamentary Research Commission was accepted to investigate the damages caused by the agricultural frost incident and develop strategies to prevent similar events in the future. The Commission will consist of 22 members and will have a three-month work timeframe.
In addition to addressing the agricultural frost incident, the General Assembly of the Parliament will convene on April 23 to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the opening of the Assembly with a special agenda focused solely on this issue. The Assembly aims to provide swift and effective support to farmers affected by the frost, ensuring that their losses are minimized and their livelihoods are protected.
