TOKİ Takes Action Against Faulty Manufacturing in Construction of Houses in Hıdırbey Neighborhood
The Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) has responded to claims of faulty manufacturing in the ongoing construction of 424 houses in the Hıdırbey Neighborhood of Samandağ district. In a statement posted on TOKİ’s official social media account, the organization clarified that there was no destruction in TOKİ houses in the 11 provinces affected by the recent earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6.
TOKİ explained that while formwork and reinforcement checks are regularly conducted during the construction process in Samandağ, Hatay, there was an issue with the concrete quality in some areas. This resulted in a manufacturing error, which was promptly rectified following inspections by technical staff and consultant company personnel. The administration is now breaking and correcting the defective concrete in the affected areas to ensure the structures meet quality standards.
Moreover, TOKİ emphasized that necessary measures have been implemented at the concrete plant to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future. An investigation has also been initiated into the contractor and consultant companies responsible for the faulty manufacturing.
