Investigation Launched into Private Schools Not Providing Free Textbooks
The Ministry of National Education has issued a new regulation that requires all private schools to teach free textbooks approved by the Ministry starting from the 2024-2025 academic year. In a letter sent to the governorships of all 81 provinces, the Ministry emphasized the importance of following the curriculum and weekly course schedules approved by the Board of Education and Discipline.
The new curriculum, based on the Turkey Century Education Model, has been implemented in pre-school, 1st, 5th, preparatory, and 9th grades. Textbooks for these levels have been written by the Ministry and distributed to both private and official schools. It is mandatory for all schools to teach these textbooks in accordance with the Turkish Century Education Model.
The Ministry’s aim with this new regulation is to ensure that students receive a quality education that is consistent with the approved curriculum. By distributing free textbooks that are regularly updated, the Ministry aims to prevent incorrect and inappropriate learning materials from being used in private schools.
Furthermore, the Ministry is now conducting inspections on private schools to ensure compliance with the new regulation. Schools that fail to use the free textbooks provided by the Ministry may face penal sanctions, including fines or even the cancellation of their operating licenses.
It is crucial for both private school administrators and teachers to adhere to the new rules set forth by the Ministry in order to provide students with a standardized and high-quality education.
