
Iran and Uzbekistan discuss implementation of agreements

Iran and Uzbekistan have discussed plans for improving cooperation between them in various fields. The President of Uzbekistan, Nurdinjon Ismailov, met with Iran’s Chief, Ebrahim Raisi, to discuss the faster implementation of the 18 cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding that have been signed between their countries. Ismailov emphasized the importance of the parliaments of the two countries playing an active role in the development of cooperation between the governments. Additionally, Ismailov met with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammed Bakir Kalibaf, to discuss potential improvements in transportation, economic, trade, culture, tourism, informatics, and communication between Iran and Uzbekistan. Kalibaf stressed the potential for the two countries to play a positive role in the development of the North-South and East-West corridors. The discussion concluded with both sides agreeing to prioritize their transportation efforts and to work towards further economic and commercial developments.
