Iraq takes decisive action against PKK terrorists
Turkey-Iraq Relations Strengthened Through Security Cooperation
Recent discussions between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammed Shia Sudani have led to a significant advancement in the relationship between Turkey and Iraq. The two leaders, along with other senior officials, participated in a security summit in Baghdad to address issues related to terrorism, security, and military cooperation.
During the summit, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and the Director of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın engaged in important discussions aimed at enhancing security measures and collaboration between the two countries.
A notable outcome of the summit was the inclusion of the phrase “The use of the PKK terrorist organization as ‘banned organization PKK’ in official correspondence” in a document sent by the Iraqi Prime Ministry to the Presidency of the Iraqi House of Representatives on July 23. This decision was further solidified by the Iraqi Council of Ministers on July 28, which officially mandated the use of the term ‘banned organization PKK’ in all official communications.
This move signifies a significant step towards combatting terrorism and promoting stability in the region. The ongoing cooperation between Turkey and Iraq in addressing security challenges highlights the commitment of both countries to safeguarding peace and security in the region.
