Isias Hotel Case: Continued Fight for Justice

The legal battle for justice in the case of the Champion Angels and tour guides who lost their lives at the Adıyaman Isias Hotel, as well as the families of the 10 individuals injured in last year’s earthquake in Turkey, continues to unfold. The third hearing for the İsias Hotel case is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 12, at the Adıyaman 3rd High Criminal Court at 10:00.
A delegation of around 100 people, including Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, families, and politicians, will be heading to Adıyaman on Tuesday, June 11, to attend the İsias Hotel case proceedings at the Adıyaman 3rd High Criminal Court.
During the second hearing of the İsias Hotel case on April 26 at the Adıyaman 3rd High Criminal Court, the main file containing 72 deceased individuals and 8 injured, as well as an additional file with 2 more injured, were merged. Following a four-day first hearing, the court issued interim decisions during the second hearing, which lasted a single day.
The court ruled to continue the detention of defendants Ahmet Bozkurt, Mehmet Fatih Bozkurt, and Erdem Yıldız, while 8 other defendants would be tried without detention under judicial monitoring. Additionally, the court requested a new expert report from a technical university other than Gazi University if possible. The next hearing date was set for 10:00 on June 12.
After the hearing, the court decided to commission a new expert report on the Grand Isias Hotel from 9 Eylül University on May 14.
In another development, on May 28, the Adıyaman Governorship Provincial Administrative Board granted permission to investigate public officials at the Adıyaman Municipality who were implicated in the İsias Hotel case file. The legal proceedings surrounding the İsias Hotel case are ongoing as the pursuit for justice for the victims and their families continues.
