Hamas Condemns Israeli Bombing of Schools Sheltering Displaced Palestinians in Gaza
Hamas has issued a statement condemning the recent bombing of two schools, “Al-Zahra” and “Abdulfettah Hamud”, which were serving as shelters for displaced Palestinians in the Tuffah Neighborhood in the east of Gaza City.
The statement described the attacks on the schools as part of a series of war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army over the past 10 months. Hamas accused the Israeli government of carrying out these massacres with the goal of destroying, displacing, and instilling fear in defenseless civilians.
Tragically, the bombings on “Al-Zahra” and “Abdulfettah Hamud” resulted in the loss of 15 Palestinian lives, including children. Since October 7, a total of 39,699 Palestinians have been killed and 91,722 injured in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, with at least 16,314 children and 10,980 women among the casualties.
The situation is dire, with reports indicating that there are still many individuals trapped under the rubble. Furthermore, civilian infrastructure such as hospitals and educational institutions are being targeted and destroyed, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Hamas called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to take immediate steps to protect the lives of innocent civilians in Gaza. The organization emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and a lasting solution to end the cycle of violence and suffering in the region.
