Israel Bans Spain’s East Jerusalem Consulate from Serving West Bank Palestinians

Israel Reacts to Spain’s Decision to Recognize Palestine
Minister of Foreign Affairs Yisrael Katz has expressed his disapproval of Spain’s recent decision to recognize Palestine. In a statement posted on his social media account, Katz announced that he had ordered a protocol to be sent to the Spanish embassy in Tel Aviv in response to this move.
According to the protocol shared by Katz, Spain’s consulate in East Jerusalem will no longer be allowed to serve Palestinians in the West Bank as of June 1. The document also warns that Israel will not hesitate to take further action if services continue to be provided to Palestinians in the West Bank after this date.
Spain, along with Norway and Ireland, announced on May 28 that they would recognize Palestine based on its 1967 borders, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. This decision has clearly sparked controversy and tension between Israel and these countries.
The situation is evolving rapidly, and it remains to be seen how Israel will respond to Spain’s move and whether other countries will follow suit in recognizing Palestine. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
