Israel Breaks Ceasefire over 900 Times since January 19
The director of the government in Gaza, Ismail Es-Sevabite, has spoken out about Israel’s repeated violations of the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip. According to Es-Sevabite, Israel has violated the cease-fire more than 900 times, with airstrikes, artillery shots, drone flights, blocking of humanitarian aid, targeting of citizens, demolition of homes, and attacks on vehicles.
In addition to these violations, Israel has also prevented the entry of fuel, vehicles for heavy construction machinery, civil defense teams, containers, and tents into the Gaza Strip. Es-Sevabite has called on the international community and mediating countries to take action to stop Israel’s ongoing violations.
The cease-fire and captive exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel went into effect on January 19, with key milestones including the opening of the Netzarim corridor and the welfare border crossing between Gaza and Egypt. Over 1700 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli prisons, while Israeli prisoners were delivered to Gaza. The first stage of the agreement ended on March 1, but the second stage negotiations have been stalled by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
As tensions continue to rise in the region, it is crucial for all parties to honor the terms of the cease-fire agreement and work towards a lasting peace in Gaza.
