Israel’s Attacks Leave Devastation in Jenin, West Bank
Recent attacks by Israeli forces in the city of Jenin in the West Bank have left a trail of destruction, according to statements made by Jenin Municipality Press and Public Relations Director Bashir Mutahir to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Mutahir reported that Israeli forces have destroyed 70 percent of the city’s infrastructure, bulldozed streets up to one and a half meters deep, and damaged electricity and communication cables. Approximately 20 kilometers of streets in Jenin have been damaged, leaving 80 percent of the city and the entire refugee camp without access to water.
The attacks, part of Israel’s “Summer Camps” operation, have been the most intense and comprehensive since the Second Intifada in 2002. Refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkerim, and Tubas have been targeted, with 26 Palestinians killed since August 28.
Overall, since October 7, 2023, at least 672 Palestinians have lost their lives in attacks by Israeli soldiers and settlers in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The ongoing violence and destruction in Jenin serve as a stark reminder of the continued struggle for peace and justice in the region.
