Israel Withdraws Last Minute from Netzarim Corridor
Following the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the Netzarim corridor was opened on 27 January for the transition of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip from south to north. In a surprising turn of events, Israel has now withdrawn from the critical corridor, as seen in the latest images from the region.
According to Hamas officials, the Israeli army completed its withdrawal from the Netzarim Corridor on a key highway in Gaza as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement. “Israeli forces dismantled their positions and military facilities from the Netzarim Corridor on the Salaheddin Road,” said a Hamas spokesperson, adding that vehicles can now pass freely in both directions.
However, conflicting reports from the Israeli Blood Television channel suggest that while Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers destroyed military equipment and facilities, they have not fully withdrawn from the Netzarim Corridor. Images shared by the Israeli press show the destruction of equipment and facilities by the occupation army.
The Netzarim corridor holds strategic importance as it divides Gaza into north and south. The recent events surrounding the corridor, including the second hostage swap of the ceasefire and clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians, have captured global attention.
