Israeli Army Allows Gaza Strip Residents to Cross North-South Border at 07:00

The Israeli army has announced that residents of the Gaza Strip will be permitted to cross from south to north at 07:00 local time (08:00 GMT) in the morning. Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee emphasized that vehicles can proceed to the north of the Gaza Strip after passing the control on Salahaddin Street, starting from 09.00 local time (10.00 Turkish lira). He also stated that the presence of weapons in the vehicles will be considered a violation.

In the midst of a prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, a crisis emerged due to the failure to release the Israeli prisoner named Arbel Yehud. While Hamas handed over four Israeli prisoners as part of the exchange, Israel decided to restrict the passage of residents of the Gaza Strip to the north, citing the non-release of Yehud. Negotiations are ongoing for the release of Yehud before the third round on Saturday.

In a recent development, Qatar announced that the crisis in the second round of the exchange between Hamas and Israel has been resolved. Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Majid al-Ansari confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the parties. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also announced that a new round of prisoner exchange would take place, with the release of Yehud, Agam Berger, and another Israeli prisoner scheduled for Thursday. Three more Israeli prisoners will be released in subsequent rounds as per the agreement.

As part of the agreement, residents of the Gaza Strip will be allowed to pass from south to north. This development marks a positive step towards resolving the tensions between the various parties involved in the prisoner exchange.
