Israeli Soldiers Destroy Palestinian Home in the West Bank
Eyewitnesses report that Israeli soldiers demolished a 100 square meter house belonging to Palestinian resident Samir Halil in the village of Farun. The Israeli soldiers claimed that the house was “unlicensed” and that a family of 7 people lived there.
The Israeli army has been known to frequently destroy Palestinian structures in the West Bank, particularly in areas under occupation such as the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
According to the Committee of Discrimination Wall of the Palestinian Liberation and Combating Jewish settlements, the Israeli army has carried out numerous raids and demolitions, affecting a total of 126 structures. This includes 74 residential buildings, 4 empty houses, and 29 agricultural facilities.
Palestinians face significant challenges in obtaining licenses for construction and agriculture in the “C region” of the West Bank, which is under Israeli control. The authorities make it nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain the necessary permits.
The division of the West Bank into regions A, B, and C was established under the “Second Oslo Agreement” signed between the Palestinian administration and Israel in 1995. Region A, which covers 18% of the West Bank, is under Palestinian administrative and security control. Region B, covering 21%, is under Palestinian security control but Israeli security oversight. Region C, the largest at 61%, remains under full Israeli control.
