Israeli Attack on Reuters Journalists Leaves One Dead and Four Injured
In a tragic incident, an attack took place from the Israeli side while Reuters employees were broadcasting live in the town of Alma Shaab on the Lebanon-Israel border. The attack resulted in the death of one journalist and injuries to four others. The journalist who lost his life was identified as Issam Abdullah, a cameraman from the Reuters news agency.
Following the attack, Reuters news agency released a written statement expressing their deep sadness over the loss of their colleague. The statement stated, “We have learned with deep sadness that our cameraman Issam Abdullah was killed.” The agency further mentioned that they were urgently seeking more information, working closely with authorities in the region, and offering support to Issam’s family and colleagues. They conveyed their condolences and thoughts to his family during this difficult time. Additionally, it was revealed that two other Reuters reporters, Thaer Al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh, were injured in the attack and were currently receiving medical care.
The violence between Palestine and Israel continues to escalate, and Israel recently announced that they targeted Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. According to the statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), gunfire originating from Hezbollah points in Lebanon was detected towards the town of Misgav Am, near the northern border of the country. In response, Israel retaliated with artillery and tank fire.
Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Kasim addressed his supporters during a rally in Beirut, Lebanon’s capital. Kasim asserted that Hezbollah would not be deterred by the requests of great powers, Arab countries, or representatives of the United Nations (UN) to refrain from intervention. He emphasized that Hezbollah knows its duties well and expressed readiness to take action when the time comes.
During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahiyan, Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hasan Nasrallah condemned Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza, stating that they pose a threat to the region. He warned that if Israel continues with its violent actions, every possible response would be considered.
This latest incident adds to the tensions in the region, with growing concerns about the escalating violence and its potential ramifications. The international community closely watches the situation, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the conflicts between Israel and Palestine.
