Israeli Defense Minister Threatens to Expand Occupation of Gaza Strip with Violent Attacks
In a recent announcement, Israeli Defense Minister Katz has threatened to expand the occupation of the Gaza Strip with violent attacks. According to reports from The Times of Israel, Katz stated that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip would be exiled and settlements where Gazans were forcibly migrated would be included in “security zones”.
Katz emphasized that the violence and frequency of the Israeli army’s attacks in Gaza have increased, stating that “Gaza will shrink and be isolated”.
The Defense Minister referred to the occupation in the south of Gaza, claiming that the region between Han Yunus and the 12-kilometer “Moragal Corridor” and “Philadelphi Corridor” have become part of Israel’s “security zone”.
Furthermore, Katz claimed that the attacks have increased and the occupation has expanded in the north of Gaza under the attacks. He mentioned that the comprehensive occupation operation of the Israeli army was intended to pressure HAMAS to release prisoners.
It was reported that the Israeli Army broke the ceasefire and recommenced violent attacks on Gaza. Since the ceasefire was violated, 1574 Palestinians have been killed, with the victims mostly being older individuals, women, and children. Additionally, 4,115 people have been injured.
The number of Palestinians who have lost their lives in Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has reached 50,944 to 116,156. Israel announced that it would act against Hamas for rejecting new ceasefire offers.
Hamas responded by accusing Israel of restarting genocide against the Palestinian people and criticized the lack of compliance with ceasefire agreements. The attacks on Gaza have also led to internal political controversies within Israel, including the possible dismissal of key figures such as the Director of the internal intelligence organization, Şin-Bet.
