Israeli Forces Force Palestinian Families to Flee Jenin
Palestinian woman Urube al-Shalebi, a victim of the recent Israeli army attacks on Jenin in the northern West Bank, shared her harrowing experience of displacement and violence. Shalebi revealed that their house near Al-Hisan Square in Jenin was heavily targeted by the Israeli army, resulting in extensive damage.
“The windows of the house were shattered, and bullets pierced through the walls, forcing us to seek help and a ceasefire,” Shalebi explained. She also recounted how Israeli soldiers raided their home, detained them, and even took her brother into custody. The family was abruptly ordered to leave their home within minutes, adding to their trauma.
Furthermore, Shalebi highlighted the dire situation faced by the residents of the refugee camp in Jenin, where essential services like electricity, water, and food supplies have been severely disrupted. The ongoing attacks by the Israeli army have left the community in a state of fear and uncertainty.
The recent onslaught by Israel, known as the “Summer Camps” operation, marked the most intense and comprehensive assault on refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkerim, and Tubas in the West Bank since the Second Intifada in 2002. The violence unleashed by Israeli soldiers has led to the tragic deaths of 26 Palestinians since August 28, with a total of 672 Palestinians losing their lives to Israeli aggression in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 7, 2023.
As the international community condemns the senseless violence and loss of innocent lives in the occupied Palestinian territories, calls for peace, justice, and accountability intensify. The stories of families like the Shalebis serve as reminders of the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and the protection of human rights in the region.
