Israeli Army Raids Balata Refugee Camp in Nablus, 5 Palestinians Detained
Eyewitness reports confirm that the Israeli army conducted a raid on the Balata Refugee Camp in the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, resulting in the detention of 5 Palestinians. The operation sparked clashes between young Palestinians and soldiers protesting Israel’s treatment of citizens during the raid.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that 4 Palestinians were injured in the incident, with one sustaining injuries from a live bullet and the others from beatings. Among the injured was a woman. Additionally, local sources revealed that the Israeli army’s actions in the town of Halhul near Hebron in the southern West Bank also led to injuries, with three Palestinians injured, two from live bullets and one from beatings.
Further reports indicate that Israeli forces conducted raids on Palestinian homes in several West Bank cities including Ramallah, Bethlehem, Hebron, and Qalqilya. These actions come amidst escalating tensions in the region since Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.
Meanwhile, in Gaza, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that the Israeli army carried out four “massacres” within the last 24 hours, resulting in the deaths of 52 Palestinians and injuries to 208 others. The overall casualties since the start of the attacks on Gaza have reached 38,295 deaths and 88,241 injuries, with widespread destruction caused by Israeli bombardments.
In addition, the closure of the Rafah Border Crossing by Israeli forces has had a significant impact on humanitarian aid flows into Gaza, exacerbating food shortages in the region. The crossing, which serves as the only gateway for the Gaza Strip to the outside world apart from Israel, remains shut following the Israeli ground offensive in the Rafah area. The Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza also reported shortages of fuel, medicine, and medical supplies, limiting its capacity to treat patients and wounded individuals.
