Israeli Occupation Army Targets Nablus as Well

The Israeli occupation army is reportedly planning an in-depth “operation” in Gaza following the establishment of a ceasefire in the north and south. The attacks, which began in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank after the Gaza ceasefire, are expected to spread to Nablus in the northern region of the West Bank.

Israeli news source N12 reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an operation in the Jenin refugee camp earlier this week after the ceasefire in Gaza officially started. The operation is said to not stop there, with plans for a comprehensive operation that will extend to other parts of Nablus in the coming days.

In a meeting attended by Chief of General Staff Halevi and Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar, it was discussed that Nablus had become a priority in the multi-front war. Bar mentioned that negative situations were developing in the region but reassured that intelligence agencies and security forces are on the ground.

The West Bank, where these attacks are taking place, is located between the Jordan River and Jerusalem. The region is home to approximately 3.2 million people, mostly Palestinians, with a significant amount of Jewish settlers living there illegally under international law.

The West Bank was initially captured by Jordan in 1950, but Israel took control of the region during the Six-Day War in 1967 and placed it under military occupation. Over the years, Israel has continued its occupation by establishing settlements, leading to uprisings by Palestinians in the 1980s and early 2000s.

Despite parts of the West Bank being administered by the Palestinian Authority following the Oslo Accords in 1993, Israel still claims rights over the region and continues its attacks under various pretexts. The situation in Nablus and the broader West Bank remains tense as the Israeli occupation army gears up for further military operations.
