Israeli Prisoners: Refusing to be Victims of the Israeli Army

A Plea from Israeli Prisoners to Government for Rescue Shared by Hamas
A powerful video message has surfaced in which Israeli prisoners are calling on the government to rescue them. The video was shared on Hamas’ Telegram account and features three elderly Israelis, one of whom is 79-year-old Haiem Bery. In the video, Bery pleads for their rescue, highlighting the difficult conditions they are living in.
“We are the generation that laid the foundation for the founding of Israel, we were the ones who started the Israeli army. I don’t understand why we were abandoned here?” said Bery in the emotional plea. “You have to save us from here at all costs.”
Bery also expressed his fear of becoming a target of Israeli army airstrikes and urged for their unconditional release. The video is accompanied by the Jewish hymn whose words are “Do not leave me in my old age, do not leave me when my strength is gone.”
The plea comes after the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Israel reported 1,200 fatalities and 5,132 injuries, while the attacks on the Gaza Strip resulted in the death of 19,453 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women.
During a “humanitarian break” in the conflict, 81 Israeli and 240 Palestinian prisoners were mutually released, but Israel continued to detain and imprison thousands of Palestinians. The attacks by Israeli forces and occupying Jews resulted in the loss of 301 Palestinian lives in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
In addition, clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah in Lebanon led to significant civilian and military casualties on both sides. As a result of the conflict, 1.9 million Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza, struggling to survive without shelter, food, clean water, medicine, and health services.
The plea from the Israeli prisoners adds a human perspective to the ongoing conflict in the region and underscores the urgent need for a peaceful resolution and the protection of innocent lives.
